Finsumo
FAQ
The questions that actually come up about tracking spending across currencies and crypto. If yours isn't here, the feedback form reaches the person who writes the code.
Which currencies and crypto can Finsumo track?
Nine: five national currencies, plus USDT, USDC and USDe as stablecoins, and Bitcoin. Each one can be the currency you record a payment in, and each one can be the currency you read your totals back in. The list is fixed in this version — there is no way to add a currency of your own.
Why does changing my display currency not change my old transactions' totals?
Because each transaction freezes its value at the moment it's entered, using that day's rate. Switching your display currency only changes how that frozen value is shown — it never re-prices history at today's rate, which is what most trackers do when you change their base currency.
Can Finsumo track spending in USDT, USDC or Bitcoin alongside cash?
Yes — stablecoins and Bitcoin are ordinary currencies in Finsumo, recorded in the same ledger as fiat rather than in a separate portfolio. A month that mixes baht, dollars and USDT adds up to one total in whichever of those you choose. Bitcoin also works as a lens: any period can be read at that day's historical BTC price, in whole coins or in sats.
Does Finsumo work offline?
Yes. Finsumo is offline-first: recording a transaction never depends on a network connection. If you're offline, it uses the last exchange rate it has cached for that currency and marks the entry so it can be upgraded to the true historical rate once you're back online — a one-time correction, not a running recalculation.
Can Finsumo import my data from Money Manager?
Yes — a Money Manager backup file imports in one step, and your transaction history comes across with each entry's own currency and date intact. The import runs entirely on your device: the file is read locally and converted into Finsumo's own data, and nothing about it is sent anywhere.
Where does my data live?
On your device, in Finsumo's own local database. There is no server and no account, and the developer never sees it.
How do I back up or export my data?
Finsumo writes an automatic once-a-day snapshot in the background, and you can trigger an export on demand from Settings at any time. Either way the file is a compressed archive containing JSON, saved to on-device storage or wherever you've pointed backups (including your own iCloud Drive) — never uploaded anywhere else by the app.
Does Finsumo send anything anywhere?
The only network requests Finsumo makes are anonymous currency and crypto exchange-rate lookups. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no account. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Does Finsumo have a Home Screen widget or a quick-add shortcut?
Yes, and it's free. Finsumo ships a Home Screen widget in two sizes, plus a Control Center / Lock Screen control and a Siri phrase — "add expense with Finsumo". The small widget and the control open the add-expense screen in one tap; the medium widget splits into two buttons, one for expenses and one for income. None of these show any of your spending — they only open the entry screen.
What's free, and what needs Finsumo Pro?
Finsumo is free forever in one active currency, chosen in Settings: unlimited transactions, categories and tags, your full history, every period view and the period-vs-previous comparison, Money Manager import, backup and restore, export, and the Home Screen widget, Control Center control and Siri shortcut. Finsumo Pro adds multi-currency: recording a transaction in a currency other than your active one, making Bitcoin, a stablecoin, or another cryptocurrency your active currency — any ordinary currency stays free to switch to, from Home or Settings — the Bitcoin/sats and stablecoin display lens, a hand-typed exchange-rate override, and Settings → Update historical rates.
How much does Finsumo cost, and is there a free trial?
Finsumo itself is free, with no trial required: tracking in one currency never expires, and there's no paywall on first launch. Finsumo Pro — the subscription that unlocks multi-currency — comes in weekly, monthly, six-month and yearly lengths, with a free trial for new subscribers. A locked Pro feature stays visible and tappable, and raises the paywall in context when you reach for it, or from Settings → Upgrade to Pro. The exact price is shown in the App Store listing and in the app's own purchase screen, since it varies by region and can change over time; see the terms page for the subscription conditions.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple, not the developer — request one through Apple's official refund page.
Still stuck? Use the feedback form — it goes straight to the developer, no ticket number involved.
