License

Your use of the PassSumo app, distributed on the App Store (Mac and iPhone), is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies automatically because PassSumo does not provide a custom EULA of its own. This page is a short supplement covering a few practical points and the terms of any subscription or in-app purchase; where anything here conflicts with Apple's EULA, the EULA governs.

The PassSumo subscription

PassSumo is free to download and use, with no account. Creating, opening, editing and searching your databases, and every feature that is not described below as an extra, work without paying and without a time limit.

An optional auto-renewing subscription, PassSumo Monthly or PassSumo Yearly, unlocks extra features in the Mac app. The extras are named in the app and on its App Store page, and the list may grow. The App Store shows the price, in your local currency, and the period it covers before you confirm.

New subscribers may be offered a free trial. It is the App Store's introductory offer, and it is available once per Apple ID across the whole PassSumo subscription group: switching billing period later does not earn a second trial.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the renewal charge is made within 24 hours before that period ends. Manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings.

If the price ever changes, Apple notifies subscribers in advance and asks for consent where its rules require it; the developer does not change what is billed silently.

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own terms, not by the developer: request one through Apple's official refund page.

The iPhone app is free and offers no purchase in the version currently on sale. Where a later version of any PassSumo app offers the subscription, the terms in this section apply to it.

Free to use, and your vault is always yours

This is a deliberate promise. If you never subscribe, or your subscription ends because you cancel, a payment fails or you simply stop, the extra features lock and nothing else changes. PassSumo still opens your databases, and you can still read, search, copy, add, edit and delete entries, create new databases and export your attachments.

Locking an extra feature never deletes, hides or alters anything in your database. Your vault, and everything in it, stays yours and stays usable.

And even in the worst case, the file is a standard .kdbx that any other KDBX-compatible app can open: this app is never the only way back to your own data.

What you're licensed to do

Apple's Standard EULA licenses you to use PassSumo on devices signed into your Apple ID, on Apple's licensing terms. Any subscription licenses the extra features described above for as long as it is active, on those same terms. None of this transfers any ownership of the app or its source code.

Your vault, and everything in it, is yours. The developer never sees it.

Your vault is your responsibility

The .kdbx file is the only copy of your data that PassSumo knows about. You are responsible for where it lives, for keeping your own backups of it beyond any backups the Mac app makes, and for remembering your master password. Nobody — not the developer, not Apple, not anyone — can recover a lost master password or the contents of a vault it protects. That is inherent to the KDBX format's encryption, not a limitation this app could lift.

No warranty

PassSumo is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. It is not guaranteed to be error-free or uninterrupted, and you use it, and rely on it for your passwords, at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of PassSumo — including loss of, or damage to, the data in your vault, loss of access to an account whose password it held, or lost profits or time. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you actually paid for PassSumo in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be waived, and in some jurisdictions the exclusions above do not apply in full.

Termination

You can stop using PassSumo at any time by cancelling any subscription in your Apple ID settings, or simply by deleting the app. Cancelling does not delete your vault: the .kdbx file is yours, stays where you put it, and stays usable — by PassSumo, as described above, and by any other KDBX-compatible app.

These terms end when you stop using the app. The "no warranty" and "limitation of liability" sections above survive that ending.
